Geely’s Galaxy E5 will be officially launched on August 3, taking the first to carry the Aegis Short Blade Battery(New Gen LFP Battery).
Aegis Short Blade Battery is the latest generation of “blade” lithium iron phosphate batteries developed by Geely. The battery is 580 mm long, with an energy density of 192Wh, and the power is from 10% to 80%, which only takes 17 minutes.
The short blade battery in testing has achieved 3,500 charging cycles which is equivalent to charging and driving for 1 million kilometers.
In the “8-needle puncture” test of the China Automobile Center, the battery was simultaneously pierced by eight 5-millimeter-diameter steel needles at the same time and left to stand for an hour with no ill effects. At -30°C ambient temperature, the average capacity retention of long blade batteries dropped to 78.96 percent, while the Aegis Short Blade Battery retained 90.54 percent of its capacity, according to Geely Auto.
In terms of safety, the Aegis Short Blade Battery utilizes a high-strength, thermally stable, heat-resistant diaphragm, and the high-stability diaphragm is paired with a safety electrode for higher energy density and safety, it said.
Aegis short knife batteries are leading the new safety standards of new energy vehicles with “military-level” safety, and re-challenge the market pattern of new energy vehicles and power batteries with extreme performance.
