As a report from ANA Cargo, All Nippon Airways (ANA) achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first Japanese carrier to earn the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Lithium Batteries (CEIV Li-batt) certification.
ANA’s certification follows a rigorous assessment process, demonstrating excellence in areas such as staff training, specialized equipment, and safety protocols. The airline’s international cargo hub at Narita International Airport played a key role in meeting IATA’s stringent requirements. This certification also enhances ANA’s ability to ensure safe and reliable transportation of these potentially hazardous materials.
Nick Careen, IATA’s Senior Vice President for Operations, Safety, and Security, praised ANA’s achievement: “This certification underscores ANA’s commitment to meeting the highest standards in handling and transporting lithium batteries safely and efficiently. The CEIV Li-batt program is vital for ensuring safety and compliance across the supply chain, and we are pleased to see ANA contributing towards raising the industry benchmark.”
As the global market for lithium batteries and EVs continues to expand, ANA is poised to meet rising demand with its industry-leading safety standards and innovative logistics solutions. The CEIV Li-batt certification reaffirms ANA’s role as a frontrunner in aviation logistics and its commitment to sustainability and safety in the global supply chain.
