According to Yahoo News, Svolt Energy, a Chinese battery manufacturer spun off from Great Wall Motor, has unveiled the Fengxing Short Blade Battery during its 5th Battery Day event. This innovative battery boasts a 6C charging multiplier, enabling it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 8.5 minutes, and offers an energy density of 185 Wh/kg. With its third-generation short blade cell technology, the battery sets a new standard for fast-charging electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

Alongside the fast-charging version, Svolt has introduced a long-life variant capable of lasting 15 years or 600,000 kilometers with a cell cycle life of over 5,000 cycles. In addition to the Fengxing battery, Svolt revealed a specialized battery for off-road vehicles. This model supports 800V charging, has a capacity of 59 kWh, and operates in extreme temperatures ranging from -43°C to 60°C. It has already been deployed in Great Wall Motor’s Tank 500 Hi-4-Z, launched on January 1, 2025. The off-road battery features advanced safety technologies, enhancing collision safety and thermal management.

Svolt has emerged as China’s leading battery manufacturer, with a 3.49% domestic market share in November 2024, according to China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance. The company shipped 5.8 GWh of batteries to international customers from January to November 2024, accounting for 27% of its total shipments during that period.
