According to Yahoo Finance, on January 9, 2025, Microvast announced a significant advancement in battery technology with the launch of its True All-Solid-State Battery (ASSB). This innovative design eliminates the need for liquid electrolytes, offering enhanced safety, higher energy density, and improved efficiency for applications ranging from electric vehicles (EVs) to energy storage systems.
The new ASSB operates at voltages ranging from 12V to 21V, made possible by a proprietary bipolar stacking architecture that reduces the need for extensive interconnections between cells, modules, and packs. Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, which operate at 3.2V to 3.7V per cell due to liquid electrolyte limitations, Microvast’s technology leverages a non-porous polyaramid separator membrane for stable, high-voltage operation.
Microvast is advancing to the pilot production phase to refine manufacturing processes and address scalability challenges. With over 17 years of experience in battery technology, Microvast continues to innovate, leveraging its expertise to support a cleaner, more sustainable future. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Stafford, Texas, Microvast is a global pioneer in battery technologies for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
