BatX Energies has officially launched a state-of-the-art lithium battery recycling and critical mineral extraction facility in Uttar Pradesh. This new plant employs advanced hydrometallurgical processes to recover valuable materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries. The facility is designed to handle a broad range of lithium-ion battery waste, including production scraps from emerging gigafactories, offering a comprehensive solution for sustainable battery waste management.
The facility marks a significant expansion for BatX Energies, following the successful operation of its first black mass production unit in Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh, introduced in 2022. Over a 21-month industrial pilot, the company fine-tuned its processes to scale up to commercial production. By utilizing proprietary chemical techniques, BatX ensures the extraction of high-purity critical materials that meet the stringent demands of specialty industries and lithium-ion cell manufacturing.
In addition to material recovery, the new plant integrates the development of second-life energy storage solutions, addressing batteries at all stages of their lifecycle. Operating with zero emissions and zero waste, the facility minimizes energy usage while aligning with ESG goals and India’s Battery Waste Management Rules 2022. This innovative approach not only enhances the affordability and accessibility of materials for electric vehicle batteries but also sets a benchmark for environmentally conscious recycling practices in the energy industry.
