Redivivus and Re-New-Able Technologies have partnered to launch Illinois’ first scalable lithium-ion battery recycling facility. The collaboration brings together Re-New-Able’s commitment to sustainable innovation and Redivivus’ advanced recycling technology, including the deployment of the Redi-Shred process. With a shared vision of transforming battery recycling into a safer and more efficient process, the partnership represents a major step forward in addressing the challenges of battery waste management.
The new facility will process lithium-ion batteries in any state of charge or health, sourcing materials from local businesses and OEM factories. It will also support efforts to manage battery waste from auto-wrecking yards across Illinois. By deploying modular recycling units close to suppliers, the initiative reduces logistics costs while fostering closer ties with automotive OEMs and battery manufacturers, significantly improving efficiency in the supply chain.
According to Erika Guerrero, CEO of Redivivus, localizing the Redi-Shred process ensures cost-effective operations while maintaining the highest safety standards for recycling. Co-founder and CTO of Re-New-Able Technologies, Ravi Gade, emphasized the partnership’s potential to position Illinois as a leader in clean energy innovation. Together, the companies aim to redefine battery recycling with a scalable, environmentally conscious blueprint that addresses both logistical and material recovery challenges.
